Welcome Back Students!
Music is for everyone here at St. Peter School. Regardless of previous musical experience, all students are equally sharing opportunities to express themselves through song, movement, dance, body percussion, use of instruments, reading, writing, listening, discussion, and more.
The following instruments are taught to and performed by the following grades: 2nd grade - hand percussion and xylophones, 3rd grade - glockenspiels and recorders, 4th grade - recorders, 5th and 6th grade - electronic piano keyboards, and 7th and 8th grade - guitars.
Students in grades 2-8 will have the opportunity to sing with their class at one All-School Friday Mass each semester. First grade will get some singing opportunities in the spring. (See Downloads for schedule and music lineups)
Not only do we have the opportunity to sing spiritual music in church, but we also use spiritual music in the classroom. After all, what better purpose to sing or play music than for the Lord?
Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
